About Ms. Shelley
Shelley Manley (formerly Bloodworth) has been riding horses for over 35 years and teaching young riders for over thirty years. She started teaching riding lessons at the age of 14 and taught many dozens of young riders before graduating from high school.
She has a B.S and M.A in Psychology, and an M.Ed. in School Counseling. She has worked as the riding director at a residential children’s home and as a riding instructor at several other facilities. She has also worked as a School Counselor for ten years at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Ms. Shelley specializes in teaching children the essentials of balanced seat equitation. She emphasizes safety and control, while helping students learn to kindly communicate with their horses. Students’ personal goals will be taken into account through lessons customized according to their unique skills and abilities.
Ms. Shelley encourages students to ask questions and seek horse knowledge through activities outside of lessons as well. Parents are also encouraged to learn alongside their children!
